Skin Deep: The Global Industry of Whitening, Worship, and Western Beauty Standards
From Accra to Manila, from Mumbai to Kingston, and from the halls of Hollywood to the stages of K-pop, a global obsession simmers just beneath the surface: the pursuit of lighter skin. It manifests in billboards, beauty products, music videos, and social media filters. But this isn’t merely a beauty trend — it’s a centuries-old inheritance of colonial domination, internalized racism, and economic stratification. Skin whitening is not just a multi-billion-dollar industry; it’s a symptom of a deeper, often unspoken global trauma. Read Article

Neo-Colonialism in Africa: The Modern Struggle for Economic Independence

Granville T. Woods: The Relentless Inventor Who Wired the Rails—and Fought to Be Heard
History Guest Commentary for InnerKwest – Manhattan, NY
A Subtle Yet Strategic Takeover
Granville Tailer Woods moved through the Gilded Age like current through copper—restless, purposeful, and always looking for a cleaner path. Between 1884 and 1910 he secured more than fifty U.S. patents spanning railroad communications, electric traction, and lighting controls. Much of what made early mass transit safer and more scalable traces back to his bench: induction-based “railway telegraphy,” smarter current collectors, safer underground/third-rail power, and theater lighting controls.... Partnership or Power Play? U.S.–Côte d’Ivoire Relations in the Shadow of Hypocrisy By InnerKwest Contributor – Accra, Ghana
In the realm of international diplomacy, few relationships are as carefully choreographed—and quietly contradictory—as the one between the United States and Côte d’Ivoire. On paper, the U.S. casts itself as a benefactor: supporting democratic institutions, boosting economic growth, and strengthening regional security in West Africa. But when we peel back the surface, a more complicated—and telling—picture emerges...Read Article

Backroom Barter: The DRC’s Minerals-for-Security Proposal and America’s Quiet Return to Central Africa
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is once again on the geopolitical chessboard—this time not as a passive subject of foreign intrigue, but as an initiator of a controversial proposal: offering the United States privileged access to its vast mineral reserves in exchange for security cooperation. While no deal has been finalized, this unfolding story—quietly negotiated and mostly unacknowledged in official channels—has echoes of colonial extraction and Cold War-era proxy bargains, now reframed in the language of “stability” and “strategic partnership.”...Read Article

Ethiopia: The First Christian Civilization and the Bible the West Tried to Edit
Ethiopia as a Different Kind of Light
In the chronicles of world history, few nations stand as firmly outside the tide of conquest and manipulation as Ethiopia. Unlike most of Africa, Ethiopia resisted colonization and preserved its sovereignty in both political and spiritual terms. The Battle of Adwa in 1896 remains a source of pride — a moment when Emperor Menelik II’s army defeated Italy, proving that Africa was not destined to kneel before Europe (Jonas, The Battle of Adwa, 2011). The CFA Franc: France’s Colonial Currency Still Shaping Africa’s Economic Future
A Currency Born in Colonization

Roger Golubski and Donald Trump: Where There is Smoke There is Fire

POST TRAUMATIC SLAVE SYNDROME
As a result of twelve years of quantitative and qualitative research Dr. DeGruy has developed her theory of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, and published her findings in the book Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome– America’s Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing”. The book addresses the residual impacts of generations of slavery and opens up the discussion of how the black community can use the strengths we have gained in the past to heal in the present.

THE LITMUS TEST
Due to the enduring and devastating impacts of slavery, along with ongoing forms of oppression—both overt and subtle—Black communities have been left mentally, spiritually, and physically exhausted across generations. Recognizing this, White institutions have intensified efforts to deliver final blows to Black progress.
The cumulative trauma from relentless tactics aimed at eroding self-worth and dismantling family bonds has led to a widespread and persistent stagnation. The question remains, as it has for the past 244 years: How do we dismantle these suffocating barriers and reclaim forward momentum? Are we ready to find the common bonds and then bind our efforts as one community?
The moment has come once again to shape the future of African Americans. Make no mistake—this is a critical juncture where unity is essential, or silence will define our place in this century.
A NEIGHBORHOOD LACKS POWER; ONLY A UNITED COMMUNITY CAN RESIST AND COUNTER ANY FORCE IMPOSING ITS WILL.
The question remains: Are we simply 51 million individuals, or are we one effective, collective community?
Now is the moment for true unity. Take action by joining one of several movements today—starting with the TARGETFAST.ORG boycott. Stand together, make an impact, and be part of the change.
