The Republicans came short of a physical confrontation when they stormed the House Intelligence Committee secure chambers.
It has been revealed President Trump told them to “take the gloves off.” A day later, House conservatives breached security on Capitol Hill, stormed a secure room and started tweeting.
The GOP is desperate and starting to use SOVIET era tactics in our legislative chambers. Because of gerrymandering uphill battles are always underway on anything the GOP is against. The African-American vote is under constant attack because of the power contained thereof. Trump has appointed judges in the higher courts affecting the future course for decades to come. Black politicians and too many black voters are overly concerned about “white backlash” instead of being more concerned about their self interest.
I really try to refrain from using words such as cowardice, afraid, scared, forgiving, and synonymous descriptions, but black people collectively need more backbone and let the chips fall as they may.
I will continue to remain vigilant monitoring and addressing the fluid voting environment challenges. With the gerrymandering and other voter suppression tactics, we must further understand ballot initiatives. Ballot initiatives is a means by which a petition signed by a certain minimum number of registered voters can bring about a public vote on a proposed statute. This is tool in the arsenal to fight the current system for voter interest to be oppressed. We must continue the fight or capitulate to the GOP desire to reverse meaningful strides made by previous administrations.
